Fire Dispatch

Northern911 provides direct fire dispatch as the Secondary PSAP.

When a 9-1-1 call requires fire services, Northern911 provides direct fire dispatch as the Secondary PSAP. Our APCO-certified, NFPA-compliant 9-1-1 Telecommunicators mobilize fire departments immediately, following established protocols to ensure seconds aren’t lost when lives and property are at risk.

For decades, we’ve supported both urban and rural communities, dispatching for more than 70 fire agencies. We understand the unique requirements of volunteer and composite fire services, including paging, multi-agency coordination, and the realities of wide geographic coverage.

Two Models of Fire Dispatch

1. Conventional Fire Dispatch

Our most cost-effective model, designed for communities without reliable radio coverage.

Fire departments are dispatched through proven tools such as SMS, pagers, IamResponding, or Active911.

  • Dedicated support line available for timestamping or resource requests (e.g., Electrical disconnect, Ministry of Transportation, mutual aid).
  • Simple, reliable, and budget-friendly option for smaller or rural fire services

2. Enhanced Fire Dispatch

For communities seeking deeper integration, Northern911 offers Enhanced Fire Dispatch with two-way radio capability through a secure Zello gateway.

This model allows our Telecommunicators to connect directly to your radio system, even outside local coverage.

  • Two-way radio communication between Northern911 and the fire team.
  • 100% recorded traffic, stored with metadata for up to two years and available to the fire chief for review.
  • Extended access via Zello’s smartphone app, allowing fire leadership to communicate on the system from anywhere with internet or data service.
  • Resilient infrastructure, with Northern911 providing configured equipment and the community supplying a dedicated radio, internet, and UPS backup.
